Vinton Mayor Brad Grose, Chamber President Jason Boothe and Executive Director Angie Chewning were on hand to congratulate Burton on her continuing success and expansion.

David and Angie Burton are congratulated by Vinton Mayor Brad Grose on expanding the Salon 121 business to two locations.

This is the second location for Burton– but also the place where Salon 121 first started out back in 2008.

Burton has 27 years of experience as a hairstylist; she started working in a salon when she was just 16 years old. After many years of hard work, she opened Salon 121 and Spa on Jefferson Avenue in downtown Vinton. The business flourished and Burton looked for a bigger space, which she found on Niagara Road in the old Vinyard homeplace and opened there in 2014.

But she kept the property on Jefferson and decided in 2022 to re-open that first location.

She not only owns both salons but works as a stylist behind the chair herself while managing both locations, ordering and stocking retail, managing eight other stylists, keeping up the properties, keeping things running smoothly, and managing their website and Facebook page.

She gives much credit for her success to hairstylists Pam Mitchell and Lorraine Woodford who helped her achieve her dreams and has made it her goal to pay it forward and assist those she works with become successful as well. She also credits her husband, David, with being her biggest supporter in all her ventures throughout the years.

Burton is not just well-known in Vinton. She has been recognized throughout the valley, receiving the Gold Award for Best Woman’s Hair Stylist and the Silver Award for Best Spa by the Roanoker Magazine.

Currently, Burton has eight hairstylists working with her— Misti Furrow, Allison Creasy, Logan Wheeler, Ashley Hutchins, Anya Hunter, and Stephanie Leonard at the Salon 121 Niagara Road location and Shannon Powers and Coco Kinney at Salon 121 on Jefferson.

Shannon Powers (on left) and Coco Kinney are the two hairstylists at the new Salon 121 on Jefferson Avenue in Vinton.

Powers and Kinney offer all things hair, plus waxings.

The Salon 121 hairstylists from both locations.

Hours of operation at Salon 121 on Jefferson are Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
