MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLERS TAKE SECOND IN NORSEMEN TOURNAMENT

William Byrd Middle School finished second among 10 teams in the annual “Norsemen” wrestling tournament at Northside High School last Saturday. Ben Franklin High from Franklin County was the team winner.

Byrd wrestlers took first place in five weight classes, including Colton Sotherden at 70 lb, Lane Brunk at 77 lb, Darin Witcher at 91 lb, Ben Waid at 175 lb and Evan Tabor at 210 lb. Myles Preston was second at 112, Sawyer Bolen took third at 152 and Kylind Spence was fourth at 160.

Darin Witcher is on top and in control in a 91 pound match.

The team is coached by Kevin Witcher, Avery Brunk, and Jake Thompson.
