William Byrd High School has announced the final group of Terriers of the Month for the 2025-
2026 school year.
The title of Terrier of the Month signifies someone who exhibits the “Terrier Way” (being safe,
respectful, responsible, and embodying the best of WBHS). Student recognitions are not based
on grades, athletics, or talents— but on character.
Student Terriers of the Month are nominated by faculty and staff. Faculty and staff Terriers of
the Month are nominated by students.
A record-breaking 34 students were recognized for the months of April and May, including
Emily Alderson, Lauren Baringer, Christopher Blackwell, Braeden Booth, Neriah Campbell,
Savannah Chattin, Bella Clark, Emily Clinebell, Fallon Davis, Emmalee Dodson, Katelynn
Franks, Hallie Garst, Elizabeth Gheen, Kyleigh Ginger, Alexander Hastings, Sophie Hoagland,

Kevin Richardson, Evan Noell, Silvia Saad, Katie Hetherington, Lauren Pearson, Eric Royal,

Possibly the most exciting part of being named a student Terrier of the Month is receiving a T-
shirt designed by the graphic design classes at William Byrd. Terriers also receive postcards
from those who nominated them explaining why they were selected, and recognition in the
media.
The Terriers of the Month tradition began with WBHS graduate Matt Crizer of ALCOVA
Mortgage, who was looking for a way “to honor students and teachers who are doing great things
in and out of the classroom.”
The program is facilitated by Asst. Principal Kevin Richardson and Life Counselor Lauren
Pomeroy.
