W.E. Cundiff Elementary School has been implementing a bus reward program during the 2022-2023 school year that encourages positive bus behavior.  The Golden Steering Wheel is awarded to the bus who has earned the most points for following the tenets of our Team Cundiff Pledge (Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn) that month.

Each morning, staff checks in with bus drivers to collect data on bus behavior.  Points are displayed on our Golden Steering Wheel Board so that students can track the number of points that their bus has received throughout the month.

Multiple buses have been rewarded this year with ice cream, water bottle stickers, and prizes and are called out of class to celebrate with their fellow bus members about 15 minutes early during their reward day.

The bus driver also gets to keep the Golden Steering Wheel on their bus as a trophy for the month. We are thankful for our bus drivers who are on board with rewarding our students for their positive bus behavior.

This program is part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) framework and has seen great success in increasing the number of positive behaviors on our school buses.

W.E. Cundiff Elementary School has received both Tier 1 and Tier 2 designation for implementing PBIS with fidelity.
