The William Byrd Classes of 1962 and 1963 have always enjoyed a shared reunion, but his year they invited Lynn Ellen McCuthcen Thompson to join their committee and help to promote the reunion for additional WBHS guests.

She was so honored to be included and had a blast both working with the rest of the committee, and attending the event.

The committee consisted of Jim Hearn, ’62, Chairman; Sandy Brown Hill, ’63; Mike Ferguson, ’63, and wife Anne; Tom Kessler, ’62, Treasurer, and wife Dianne; Sherry Meadows Hearn, ’62; Robin Reeves Reynolds, ’63; Vincent Reynolds, ’62; Sharon Richardson Proehl, 62; Bill Saunders ’62; and Lynn Ellen McCutchen Thompson. ’61.

The reunion was held in the Shenandoah Room at The Hotel Roanoke on Saturday, September 16, beginning at 6 pm. The orchestra/band consisted of an outstanding group of men, who played anything from classical selections to favorites from Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Bobby Darin and other old favorites from the 1950s and 1960s. Jim Hearn and his daughter also included beautiful solos of old favorites. Mike Ferguson presented an original song in which he “roasted” Jim and Sherry Hearn.

There were classmates from as far away as Texas, North and South Carolina, and Tennessee, and as close as Vinton and Montvale.

It was a fun-filled evening with lots of sharing of stories about our high school days, and family and friends.

It really looks like a fun evening. Thanks, Lynn Ellen, for the info.
