William Byrd High School students and staff have selected the Terriers of the Month for March
2026. All WBHS students and staff may nominate individuals who they believe exhibit the
“Terrier Way” (being safe, respectful, responsible, and embodying the best of WBHS).
Teachers and staff nominate students for the honor; students nominate faculty and staff members.
A record-breaking 31 student Terriers were recognized in March– Erica Barton, Aubrey Blewett,
Raegan Bowman, Norah Buck, Kaylin Bumgarner, Stephen Byars, Victoria Chang Leon, Fallon
Davis, Nathan Doan, Elizabeth Gheen, James Hartley, Aaron Hemming, Owen Humphries,
Britton Jordan, Brooklyn Linick, Elena Mullen, Sarah Nguyen, Sydney Nichols, Jayden Niday,
Carly Norton, Brody Parrish, Brittanya Rivera-Torres, Jamya Rosborough, Adam Sink, Ethan
Sutton, Nick Toney, Lauren Toney, Levi Whitcomb, Skye Williams, Justin Williams, and
Leighann Wood.

Teacher/staff Terriers of the Month for March include Ernie Harris, Martha Wade, Travis Welty,
Dan Plybon, Barbara McGrath, and Delaney Panzarelli.

Possibly the most exciting part of being named a student Terrier of the Month is receiving a T-
shirt designed by the graphic design classes at William Byrd. Terriers also receive postcards
from those who nominated them explaining why they were selected, and recognition in the
media.
The Terriers of the Month tradition began with WBHS graduate Matt Crizer of ALCOVA
Mortgage, who was looking for a way “to honor students and teachers who are doing great things
in and out of the classroom.”
The program is facilitated by Assistant Principal Kevin Richardson and Life Counselor Lauren
Pomeroy.
