This weekend was the start of “Daylight Savings” and the sports teams at William Byrd are ready to “Spring Forward” with the official start of Virginia High School League games, matches and meets this week.

Monday is the official start of VHSL spring sports but Byrd has nothing on the schedule. Tuesday is a different story as the Terriers have a full slate of action to open the spring season.

The Byrd baseball team will host Liberty at 5:30 pm to open the season and the jayvees are at Liberty, same time. The softball team will have a varsity game at Liberty at 5:30 pm and the jayvee softball team will host the Minutewomen at Byrd.

Both soccer teams open Tuesday. The boys will host a jayvee-varsity doubleheader against Bassett beginning with a 5:30 pm jayvee game and the girls will be at Bassett with the same schedule. Both tennis teams have matches with Hidden Valley, with the girls at home and the boys at Hidden Valley.

Next Wednesday, March 15, the girls and boys lacrosse teams open at home against Hidden Valley. The girls are scheduled to play at 5:30 pm at Patterson Stadium while the boys follow  at approximately 7:15 pm. The softball team will host Christiansburg at home and the softball jayvees are at Christiansburg. The boys’ jayvee baseball team is home to Christiansburg for a 7 pm game.
