(The Town of Vinton and the Vinton Messenger are partnering to put the spotlight on Town of Vinton employees—during the month of their birthdays. The Town is proud to have these individuals on their staff and want to make the community aware of who is “behind the scenes” making the town look great and operate so successfully.)

Thanks, and happy birthday to Jerry Bishop, Jr., in the Vinton Public Works Department, for his service to the Town and citizens of Vinton.

Jerry Bishop

Bishop is an Equipment Operator 1 in Public Works, which means he and his fellow Public Works employees are out removing snow, doing road and water line repairs, landscaping, and more, day or night, in all kinds of weather, to keep Vinton’s citizens comfortable in their homes.

He has been employed with the Town of Vinton since May 2021. Bishop and his wife Valerie have one son. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, sports, and racing.

“The Vinton Public Works Department touches the lives of thousands of people every day in a very professional manner,” says Mayor Brad Grose. “The dedicated individuals in the department enhance the quality of life in Vinton by maintaining all the systems that provide safety, convenience, recreation, and a pleasing appearance in our Town. We are truly blessed to have such skilled, devoted people in the Vinton Public Works Department.”
