Hayden Janney, a pitcher for the William Byrd Middle School
softball team, threw a perfect game in last week’s win over Andrew Lewis at the
James I. Moyer Complex in Salem. Janney retired all 18 batters she faced, striking
out 14.
The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh when the Terriers
plated four runs, and Hayden set down the side in the bottom of the inning to
complete the perfect game and close out a 4-0 win.
Making it special for Hayden is that her twin sister Emma(right) is the catcher for the Byrd middle school team.
