Herman L. Horn students compete in annual spelling bee

Herman L. Horn fifth graders competed in the annual school spelling bee on November 16. Contestants included (front row, left to right) Gino Ruks, Carson Wood (second place winner), Pierce Rakes (first place winner), Blake Anderson, and Dakota Lawhorn, and (back row, left to right) Dalton Beckner-Pollard, Alex Montgomery, Kassius Ayres, Olivia Meador, Tristan Hirtz, and Brayden Mason.

Herman L. Horn Elementary School held its annual school spelling bee on November 16. Fifth graders compete to advance to the Roanoke County Spelling Bee.

 

Contestants this year included Gino Ruks, Carson Wood, Pierce Rakes, Blake Anderson, Dakota Lawhorn, Dalton Beckner-Pollard, Alex Montgomery, Kassius Ayres, Olivia Meador, Tristan Hirtz, and Brayden Mason.

 

Pierce Rakes took first place in the competition; Carson Wood won second place. Both will advance to the county spelling bee where fifth through eighth graders compete.
