Conference 24 play begins this week for the William Byrd boys and girls tennis teams.

The William Byrd girls are the second seed in the tournament, and they had a first round bye Wednesday. Weather permitting, the Terriers will host a match today. The championship is Friday at the top remaining seed.

The Byrd boys were scheduled to open Wednesday, and if they won they’ll play a semifinal match today, and the boys’ championship is also Friday.

Singles and Doubles championships for Conference 24 will be next week, May 16 and 17. The boys are at Bassett and the girls will be at William Fleming.

The Byrd teams finished their regular season on Monday as the girls beat William Fleming, 9-0, and the boys lost to the Colonels, 6-3.
