Ethan Sink shot a 34 over nine holes to lead William Byrd to a second
place finish in Tuesday’s Blue Ridge District golf match at the Hanging Rock
Golf Club. Ethan’s score was good for medalist honors at the Roanoke County
course.
“Ethan has been consistent and playing well all year,” said Byrd coach
Scott Whitehead.
Sink’s 34 was one under par, the only golfer to shoot under par in the
round.

Teammate David Foster shot an even par 35 and that was the second best
score of the day.
“David continues to be a steady reliable score in the one spot,” said
Whitehead.
Also scoring for Byrd were Andrew Carter with a 41 and Jayden Beasley
at 44. Reid Divers carded a 45 and Ryan Bell shot 53.
Byrd’s team score of 154 was seven strokes behind Northside, who won
the day with a 147. Lord Botetourt was third at 157, Franklin County shot 161 and
Staunton River had a nine hole 169.
Next up for the Terriers is their turn to host the district at Blue Hills next
Tuesday. Whitehead is hoping to find a steady sixth man in that spot as Byrd
prepares for the post-season.
“We play new players in the six spot with Ryan (Bell) being the sixth
player to play in the spot in seven matches,” he said. “ We’ll have one more
qualifier for Tuesday and then hopefully someone can win that spot for some
consistency and experience in the six spot for district and region.
“It is exciting that we have 10 10t
h graders and a freshman working to get
better each day!”
