The William Byrd girls ran their win streak to six straight with three victories in five days. The Byrd girls were at Blacksburg High last Thursday where they shut out the Bruins, 10-0. The Terriers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Addison Clark doubled down the left field line, Hadyn Grubb doubled and Heidi Dixon singled to center field, each scoring one run. The Terriers extended their lead with three runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Clark and Grubb.
Hadyn Grubb earned the win for the Terriers. The righty allowed six hits and no runs over five innings, striking out five and walking none. Clark and Grubb were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Byrd. Grubb led William Byrd with three hits in three at bats.

On Friday the girls hosted Northside and took a 13-3 win. Sydney Tuck drove in four runs on three hits as Byrd won their Blue Ridge District opener. Tuck doubled in the third inning, scoring two runs, and doubled in the fourth inning, driving home two more.
On Monday the Terriers hosted Salem at Greg Barton Field and made it six in a row with a 15-4 win. Kalee Hayes slammed two home runs to lead the offense, going yard in both the second and third innings. Hadyn Grubb earned the win in the circle for Byrd, allowing three earned runs over four innings. Addison Clark tossed two innings of scoreless ball in relief.

Byrd collected 17 hits in the game. Hadyn Grubb had two hits and drove in four runs while Tuck and Shelby Ensor had three hits each. Mallory Peroulas, Hayes and Olivia Bustamante each collected multiple hits and Tuck, Peroulas, and Bustamante each stole multiple bases as the girls swiped eight against the
Spartans.

With the win Byrd is now 7-1 overall. After Thursday’s home game with Brookville the Terriers were in Daleville to face Lord Botetourt in a Blue Ridge District game on Friday. This Tuesday, April 21, they have a big district game
against Franklin County in Rocky Mount.
