The William Byrd track team hosted their annual “Senior Night” last week
with a home meet at Patterson Stadium. The Terriers hosted Magna Vista, Bassett
and Staunton River.
“The coaches were able to honor their 20 seniors before the meet started
and thank them for their years of service to William Byrd High School and to the
Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor programs and the achievements that they have
made,” said Byrd coach James Pannell.
Among the top performances on the night was a three-event win by senior
Lily Perez. She won the 100m hurdles in 16.58, the 300m hurdles with a time of
50.83 and also took first in the long jump with a leap of 18′ 1/2″.
Lucy Whitenack won the 400m dash with a time of 1:04.56 while Jadyn
St. Clair won the 800m run in 2:35.81. Alexia Donahue won the pole vault with a
height of 7’6″.
Other notable female performances on the track included Ellie Ruble with
a second in the 100m dash (13.28) while Michal Hamlar took second in the 200m
dash(27.29). Donahue was second in the 400m dash (1:05.23) and Brooklyn
Strother finished third in the 400m dash (1:06.55).

In the field events Skye Williams was second in the shot put (34′ 6”) and
discus (107’ 11”), Kaelyn Wheeler was third in the discus at 88′ 4” and Carleigh
Leonard was third in the shot put with a heave of 31′ 4”.
On the boys side James Smith won the 100m dash in 11.22 and the 200m
dash in 22.75. Camden Ward won the 800m run with a time of 2:10.83 while Gio
Pandolifini won the 1600m run in 4:59.67.
Jules Hippeau Coltat won the pole vault with a height of 10'6”. Logan
Hodges won the discus with a throw of 125’6” and Titus Beatty was first in the
shot put with a toss of 46′ 7”.
Other notable boys included Jack Petersen, who took second in the 400m
dash with a time of 53.10, Colton Sotherden with a time of 2:11.41 for second in
the 800m and Davion Wade with a second in the 110m hurdles. Ashton
Williamson finished second in the pole vault.
The Terriers were scheduled to run at Franklin County on Wednesday and
this Saturday they’re entered in the Golden Eagle Invitational at Staunton River
High School.
