The William Byrd girls are the ninth seed for the Region 3D volleyball tournament, which begins at the sites of the higher seeds Monday.
The Terriers will travel to Christiansburg for an opening round game, and if they prevail they’ll get back on the bus for a quarterfinal round game on Tuesday. The semis are a week from tonight, all at the higher seeds.
Byrd comes into the tournament at 11-14 after falling in the semifinal round of the Blue Ridge District tournament last week. The third seeded Terriers traveled to Lord Botetourt and fell in three sets to second seeded LB, 25-22, 25-14 and 25-15. Top seeded Franklin County beat Northside in the other semifinal and the Eagles were set to host Lord Botetourt in Rocky Mount on Wednesday for the BRD championship.
Terran Brown led the Terrier offense in Daleville last week with 11 kills, and senior Kamryn Sigafoes had eight. Chloe Harrilla and Sigafoes led the defense with 13 digs from Harrilla and 12 digs from Kamryn. Setter Carsyn Kotz dished out 22 assists.
