Herman L. Horn Elementary School held its annual PTA Fun Run fundraiser on November 3, organized by Kellay Harnish and members of the PTA.
HLH Principal Peggy Stovall said, “Students enjoyed walking and running the track, with DJ music during their ENCORE time, the Honeytree Gaming Truck, visits from the Vinton Police and Fire & Rescue, and freezie pops. This was definitely a team effort by all.”
“Kohls sent three volunteers to help and Honeytree sent out their gaming truck and free snacks,” said Harnish. “They also sent three volunteers to man the truck. It was the best weather. Troy Ham generously donated his DJ services again.”
The grand finale of the day is always the Pie Throwing Fundraiser where students who raised $100 get a chance to throw a Cool Whip pie at a teacher equipped with goggles and plastic ponchos.
Teachers participating were good sports Laurie Aylor, Kristin Bray, Mandy Grose, Macy Snead, Neil Zimmerman, Bradley Yarbrough, Scott Smith, and Shelly Dix.
Harnish says the PTA raised about $6,000 this year through the Fun Run activity.
