One candidate running for Vinton mayor, three for Vinton Town Council

VINTON–The terms of Vinton Mayor Brad Grose, Councilwoman Janet Scheid, and Councilman Doug Adams expire on June 30, 2016.

As of the March 1 registration deadline, only one candidate had filed the paperwork to run for the office of Mayor of Vinton; three candidates have signed up to run for the two seats on Vinton Town Council.

Vinton Councilwoman Janet Scheid is running to retain the seat on council she was appointed to fill upon the resignation of Wes Nance.

Councilman Doug Adams is running for re-election in May.

Keith Liles has announced that he is running for Vinton Town Council. He currently serves on the Vinton Planning Commission and the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Grose, Scheid, and Adams have announced that they are running to retain their seats.

Keith Liles, who is serving as Vice Chairman of the Vinton Planning Commission and on the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, has announced that he also will be a candidate for council.

Candidates for Vinton Town Council and for mayor must live within the town limits and gather signatures from 125 qualified Vinton voters to run for office, in addition to other official paperwork. All paperwork was due by 7 p.m. on March 1.

The town elections are scheduled for the first Tuesday in May, which this year is May 3.
