The William Byrd soccer girls shut out William Fleming at Patterson Stadium Tuesday. Byrd outshot the Colonels 47-4 and won 4-0.

“We had a dominating performance,” said Byrd coach Molly Deacon.

Kelly O’Connor scored off an assist from Katie Corrao one minute and six seconds after the first whistle. Saje Carter scored the second goal with one minute and eight seconds left in the first half off an assist from Kathryn Woodson to put Byrd up 2-0 at the half.  The Terriers scored early in the second half off on a goal from Reagan Doyle and Olivia Ard scored the last goal of the game off an assist from Jeanette Sako. Bailey Coulter got the shut out in goal.

Byrd also picked up a win over Fort Defiance in Vinton last Wednesday. Byrd won 1-0 on an “own goal” by the Indians after a corner kick by Taylor Guilliams. Gracie Tyus 14 saves Byrd, including some big ones in the second half.

The Terriers hosted Christiansburg last Friday and dropped a 2-0 decision. The Terriers played Christiansburg at Eastern Montgomery High School on Wednesday and they’ll be at Staunton River tonight.
