Three William Byrd seniors have won the three scholarships awarded this year by the Roanoke Valley Community Credit Union— Ana Boush, Austin Dickson, and Adam Creasy. The awards ceremony was held at Fitzpatrick Hall at the Jefferson Center on May 3.

RVCCU began as a teacher’s credit union. Scholarship Committee Chair Mike Rayl said they are proud of their close relationship to local school systems. Educational opportunities for their members, their children, and the community are very important to them. That is the reason they award the scholarships each spring.

The award winners “reflect RVCCU’s mission and principles through their superb academic achievement, involvement, and work ethic.”

The Tom Gagnet Educational Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Ana Boush, who plans to attend the University of Virginia next year.

The Cecil Bollinger Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Austin Dickson, who plans to study at Virginia Tech.

The Gay Shober Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Adam Creasy, who will be starting his college career at Virginia Western Community College.

Twenty-two students from across the valley applied. Awards were blind and assigned numeric values and the three Byrd students were at the top.
