Four students from William Byrd Middle School auditioned and won a spot in the prestigious All District Band ensembles for 2017, held on February 17 and 18 in Bassett.
Joey Sandzimier is an eighth grader who plays trombone. McCaffrey Simmons, also in eighth grade, plays tenor sax. Kassidy Wrye is a seventh grader who plays clarinet. Elizabeth Recktenwald is in eighth grade and plays French horn.
According to Denise Aspell, Director of Bands at William Byrd Middle School, the students performed with students from all over, including the competitive District VI.
“The bands came together for one and a half days at Bassett High School and performed an incredible concert in the time with challenging music,” said Aspell. “Congratulations to these students.”
