Kim Colls, who has been a member of the William Byrd family since he was a
student in the 1970s, was honored prior to the Terriers’ Region 3D basketball game
against Magna Vista on February 16.
Colls was an athlete for the Terriers before attending VMI. He started coaching at Byrd in 1980 and has been on the staff for middle school, jayvee or varsity teams ever since, coaching track, basketball, soccer and football while teaching at W.E. Cundiff Elementary School.
Former and current Byrd coaches, players and administrators attended the pregame ceremony that was a surprise to the humble Colls, who has also avoided the spotlight during his many years of dedicated service to the greater William Byrd community.
