Sandlot Super Bowl tournament semifinals will be held at two Roanoke
County locations this Saturday as youth teams in three divisions try to grab a spot
in the Sandlot Super Bowl championship games. The championships will be held
at Salem Stadium on November 2nd .
Vinton had teams in all three age groups but none reached the semifinals.
In the 8-U division the Vinton team lost to North Roanoke in the first game of a
doubleheader at Bogle Field last week. In the second game the Vinton 12-U team
defeated Franklin County, 14-12, to advance to the quarterfinal round. Vinton
then fell to the top-seeded Salem team on Saturday.
The Vinton 10-U team also won their opener, 40-22, over a Botetourt
County team last Saturday. Vinton then played the top-seeded Salem team on
Tuesday and was defeated.
Semifinals this Saturday will be at Northside High and Bogle Field at 9
a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
