Trick-or-treaters take over downtown Vinton

Downtown Vinton was filled with trick-or-treaters for the annual Halloween festivities.

Many hundreds of children and their families turned out on October 31 for the annual Downtown Vinton Trick-or-Treat event sponsored by Vinton businesses, the Town of Vinton, and the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Downtown businesses handed out treats. Corridor businesses and civic organizations also set up booths along the downtown streets to participate.

Participants included Twin Creeks Brewing Company, Cundiff Realty, Vinton Appliance Center, the Dogwood Restaurant, the Vinton Historical Society, Vinton Baptist Church, the Conner Group, Citizens Upholstery, Creative Occasions, Edward Jones Investments, D.R. Music, Faith’s Hair Salon, Neely’s Accounting, Vertical Church, the Vinton Library, Cundiff Drug, Triumph Church, Carilion Parkway Physicians, Healing Solutions, the Town of Vinton, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Also, Vinton Roofing, Boy Scout Troop 18, Super Kicks Karate, the Vinton Police Department, Field of Dreams, Boost Mobile, Pinnacle Bank, Vinton Bowling Center, Twice Treasured, Vinton Health Department, Vinton Fire Department, Vinton Computer, Denise’s Country Basket, Copper Hill Produce and Whistle Lane Farm, Cornerstone Antiques, Allstate Insurance, 206 Salon, Giardino Restaurant, HomeTrust Bank, OMA Training Center, Member One, and Star City Playhouse.

Winners in the annual Business Costume Contest were: first place, Joy and Gary Payne from Vinton Roofing; second place, Heather Oltmanns and Megan Patton from Twice Treasured; and third place, Mark Frye, Laura Taylor, Carrie Millington, and Cara Cooper from Creative Occasions.

Winners in the Business Decorations contest were: first place, Denise’s Country Basket at the Vinton Farmers’ Market; second place, HomeTrust Bank; and third place, Vertical Church with its Noah’s Ark display.
