TOWN OF VINTON NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Town Council of the Town of Vinton, Virginia, hereby gives notice of a public hearing to be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. The purpose of the public hearing is to solicit public input on the proposed Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for the Town of Vinton Cedar Ave and W. Cleveland Ave Housing and Community Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program.  Residents of the project area are encouraged to attend.  The Cedar Ave and W. Cleveland Ave Housing and Community Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program proposal will be seeking up to $1,400,000 which will be used to provide funding for housing rehabilitation, acquisition and relocation, home ownership creation, and public infrastructure improvements within the defined project area.

 

The draft CDBG application will be presented for comment along with information on projected beneficiaries including the number of low- and moderate-income residents to benefit from the proposed project, and plans to minimize displacement.    Citizens will also be given the opportunity to comment on the Town of Vinton’s past use of CDBG funds.  A fact sheet on the proposed project and the draft proposal is available at the Town Manager’s Office, 311 South Pollard Street, Vinton, VA 24179.   For additional information, contact Nathan McClung, Principal Planner, at

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 emergency, participation in this public hearing by Council members, staff, and the public will be available through electronic or other alternative means. The public may comment on the grant application

by emailing [email protected], leaving a message at 540-983-0607 or writing to the Town Clerk, Vinton Municipal Building, 311 S. Pollard Street, Vinton, Virginia 24179. Voice mails, emails and other messages containing comments on the grant application will be provided to Council members. The public also may be able to comment during the electronic public hearing. Citizens interested in this option must register in advance by calling the Town Clerk’s Office at 540-983-0607 or sending an email to [email protected] by 12 Noon on Monday, October 19, 2020. The public can observe this meeting through a livestream on the Town’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/vintonva. Additional information concerning the meeting and the public hearing will be made available on the Town’s website at least three days before the meeting date.
