Patterson Stadium in Vinton was the site of a four team track meet Monday as William Byrd played host to Franklin County, William Fleming and Northside in a showdown of Blue Ridge District teams.
Byrd had some strong performances in the meet. On the ladies’ side Sela Beatty won the 100m dash with a time of 12.97 and finished second in the 200m in 26.69. In the 400m dash Emma Gordon finished first in 1:05.11 and Kelsey Roth finished third with a time of 1:08.42. Grace Owen finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:43.31 and in the mile Maci Glass finished second in 6:03.79.
The 4x100m relay team of Chloe Harrilla, Sarah Fuchs, Emma Dalton and Beatty was first with a time of 51.88. The 4x400m team of Harrilla, Gordon, Glass and Dalton was also a winner at 4:42.54.
In the long jump Harrilla won with a jump of 15’5” and finished second in the triple jump at 30’9”. In the discus Mya Rosser won with a throw of 87’11”, Jaylen Rosser finished second (84’4”) and Sarah Fuchs finished 3rd (76’2”). In the shot-put Sydney Blewett won with a throw of 34’4.25”, Mya Rosser was second (31’8”) and Jaylen Rosser took third (29’9”).
On the boys’ side Isaac Roth took first in the pole vault with a height of 10’. Jamie Cawley finished second in the triple jump at 35’3” and Walker Nance was third with a jump of 34’9”. In the high jump Cawley and Jackson Meador tied for second, clearing 5’6”.
In the 400m dash Wyatte Bailey was third with a time of 54.44 seconds. In the 800m run Keaton Band finished first in 2:06.92. Nance took second in the 110m Hurdles with a time of 16.94 seconds. The 4x400m relay of Band, Roth, Ryan Krawczyk and Bailey won their race in 3:46.87.
Byrd will be hosting another meet on Wednesday, June 2nd, with Roanoke County rivals Hidden Valley and Glenvar expected to attend.
