The annual Cosmopolitan Club Track Meet was held at William Fleming High School last week and the Pulaski County boys and Patrick County girls came up team winners in the Senior Division on a rainy day in Roanoke.
The big meet included a class for middle school teams, a Junior Division for ninth and 10th graders and a Senior Division for juniors and seniors. The top eight finishers in each event scored.
For Byrd the Junior Division 4x400m relay of Riley Roth, Grace Owni, Alexandra Bonilla and Liz Dixon took second place with a finishing time of 4:53.61.
Remi FiGart finished fourth in the Senior high jump with a height of 4’8”, fourth in the long jump with a jump of 15’ and third in the triple jump with a jump of 31’6.
Gracie Mick won the pole vault with a height of 7’6”. Mya Rosser was runnerup in the discus with a throw of 101’7” and twin sister Jaylen Rosser finished third with a throw of 99’5”. Mya was second in the shot put with a throw of 33’4.75” and Jaylen took third with a throw of 31’.
For the boys, Brady Reachy finished fifth in the Junior 100 meters with a time of 12.14. Wyatte Bailey was the Junior 400m champion with a time of 52.53 and Bodie Gonzalez was fifth in the Junior 400m with a time of 53.95. Walker Nance finished fifth in the 110m hurdles and the 4x400m relay of Bailey, Isaiah Board, DeShawn Austin and Gonzalez won with a time of 3:45.50.
Ethan Haston finished second in the long jump with a leap of 38’10 and took third in the pole vault with a height of 8’. Bailey also finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 8’.
Nic Bustamante was fourth in the Junior discus with a throw of 112’11 while Caleb Thompson was sixth with a height 111’8 .
Hunter Richards finished fourth in the Senior shot put with a throw of 39’2.25”.
The Terriers were scheduled to host a meet on Wednesday of this week with Lord Botetourt, Bassett, Glenvar, North Cross and Martinsville expected to attend. This Saturday the Terriers are at Blacksburg and the Blue Ridge District meet will be at Franklin County High School on Saturday, May 21.
