The William Byrd tennis teams returned from the break on Tuesday and played two tight matches with Northside, winning one and getting edged in the other. The girls won 5-4 at Northside and the boys lost 5-4 in Vinton.
The girls got singles wins from Makenna Jacobsen at one, Ashley Begasse at two, Hannah Johnson at three and Miley Moses at six. The number one doubles team of Jacobsen and Begasse also won, giving Byrd the fifth needed point.
“They all killed it in their matches,” said Byrd coach Kayla Mitchell-McCroskey. “They did great.”
