Graduated baseball players who missed their senior season not only got to play in a final game at Salem Memorial Ballpark on August 1, they were also recognized with their parents and had their name and picture on the stadium video board. Five William Byrd players participated on the “Gray” team that played at 3:30 pm and defeated the “Red” team.  The players from all four teams were recognized on the field between the 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm games. All players were from the area served by the Salem-Roanoke Baseball Hall of Fame, and the event was put on by the Salem Red Sox and a group of sponsors.
