The Roanoke County Board of Supervisors is seeking candidates to fill the Board’s vacancy in
the Vinton Magisterial District, which has resulted from Jason Peters’ election to serve as the
Roanoke County Commissioner of the Revenue.
Peters will remain on the board through the end of December and take office as Commissioner of
the Revenue on January 1, 2024.
Candidates for the position must be residents and qualified voters of the Vinton Magisterial
District. The candidate selected and appointed by the Board will hold office until a special
election is held in November of 2024.
Subsequently, the person elected at the special election will serve the remainder of Mr. Peters’
term, which expires December 31, 2025.
Interested applicants must mail or email a written statement, not exceeding 300 words, setting
forth their qualifications, and why they want to be the supervisor for the Vinton Magisterial
District, to the Chief Deputy Clerk at the following address or email by November 30, 2023:
