The Winter Reading Program kicked off at the Vinton Library on February 2 with a Pajama Party for infants up through age 5. There was a story (“When the World is Ready for Bed”), popcorn, crafts, and the “Finding Dory” movie, all on a cozy blanket.
Children’s Library Assistant Patty Kiser has set a goal of 100 children reading 15 books each (or having the books read to them) by March 15.
A free board book and certificates are involved. Stop by the library for a log sheet or call 857-5043 to sign up.
Special events coming up for children include:
- The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs hockey team will be visiting the library at 6 p.m. on February 13.
- All ages are invited to the Dragon Party on February 21 at 11 a.m. with a special reading by children’s author Doris Jones.
- Storytime for ages infant through age 5 resumes on February 28.
Be sure to stop by the Vinton Library and check out its many programs and resources– not your Grandma’s library anymore– although there are lots of cozy nooks to read in or you can sit by the fireplace and get a snack from the East County Cafe. Its tomato bisque soup is highly acclaimed.
