Jason Peters has won the Republican Primary for the Vinton seat on the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors. He will face Democrat Ben Shepherd in the fall election.

Incumbent Jason Peters has won the Republican Primary for the Vinton seat on the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors. Unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections indicate he defeated fellow Republican Harry Griego with 68 percent of the vote (960 votes versus 461 for Griego).

Peters won the primary in the North Vinton precinct (149 votes to 59 for Griego), the South Vinton precinct (175 votes to 52), the Lindenwood precinct where he lives (334 votes to 129), and the Mount Pleasant precinct (173 votes to 100). Griego won the Bonsack precinct with 109 votes, versus Peters’ 107.

“I am very humbled by the support that my community has shown me once again,” said Peters. “I appreciate my family and friends who stepped in to make this election such a success. I am very thankful to every voter who participated in today’s primary.”

Peters will face Democrat Ben Shepherd in the General Election in November.

Incumbent Joe McNamara won his Republican primary fight for the Windsor Hills seat on the Board of Supervisors with 62 percent of the vote, defeating Scott Faw.

Incumbent Al Bedrosian, who represents the Hollins District, was defeated by newcomer Phil North, who took 54 percent of the vote in the primary.
