Sabrina McCarty was re-elected to Town Council in the May 1 election. Her second term will begin on July 1. Mike Stovall was elected to serve his first four-year term on council, replacing Matt Hare who announced last December that he was not running for re-election due to increasing job demands. His term will also begin on July 1 of this year.
With only two candidates for two seats, voter turn-out was very light. McCarty received 106 votes (44 in the Vinton North precinct, 62 in Vinton South); Stovall, 77 ((36 votes in Vinton North, 41 in Vinton South), with 10 write-in votes.
McCarty is Office Leader at Pinnacle Financial Partners in Vinton. Stovall is the Supervisor of Transportation with Roanoke County Public Schools.
