Sabrina McCarty is retiring from her position as Senior Vice President at Pinnacle Financial
Partners in Vinton. Her final day at the bank was scheduled for March 4.

She has been involved with the banking industry for 34 years, beginning with First Union at the
call center on Plantation Road, working in the bankcard division. She then moved into the
branches where she started as a teller and quickly moved up to Teller Supervisor. She worked for
the National Bank of Commerce, advancing to Assistant Manager, and then was employed by
Valley Bank (now Pinnacle) as a manager and Bank Officer before advancing to her current
position.
McCarty was born and raised in Huddleston in Bedford County. She graduated from Staunton
River High School and attended Liberty University, then subsequently moved to Vinton to be
closer to work.
McCarty will continue to serve the community as a member of Vinton Town Council. Before
winning her seat on council, she served on the Vinton Board of Zoning Appeals as a certified
member. She was first elected to council in 2013 and is now serving her third term, which will
expire on December 31, 2026.
She served on the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for several years– her
last three years as president of the organization. She also serves on the executive board of the
Roanoke American Heart Association and is a member of the Vinton Breakfast Lions Club.
She is married to Chris McCarty. Her plans for retirement include traveling and spending more
time with her parents and grandchildren. A trip to Alaska is in the works for their 10th
anniversary.
McCarty was recognized with a retirement party at the bank on February 28 with many friends
and customers stopping by. Many of the customers had stories about how she had helped them
through the many years she has worked with Pinnacle.
McCarty says what she will miss the most about her job is “my clients and helping them with
their financial needs.”
