The Vinton Macado’s restaurant welcomes the public to the ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 1.

The long-awaited opening of the Vinton Macado’s is scheduled for Saturday, December 1.

While the restaurant opened to the public without fanfare on November 27, the formal ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce is set for Saturday 1 at 10:30 a.m.

Guest speakers will include Vinton Mayor Brad Grose, Macado’s owner Richard Macher, Vinton Town Manager Barry Thompson, and Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Jason Peters.

Once the ribbon is cut, festivities will continue with radio station 94.9 FM Star Country doing a live remote from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Game Room will be free all day. Twin Creeks Brewing Company will be on site, and also featured inside the restaurant. Homestead Creamery will be on site as well.

Donations of cash and canned food will be accepted at the grand opening to benefit the Vinton Needy Family Program.

“I’m really, really excited about the opening; it’s something that we’ve all been looking forward to,” said Vinton Assistant Town Manager and Economic Development Director Pete Peters. “The anticipation from the public for this restaurant opening has been remarkable and I am constantly surprised about the extent of people who are aware of it.

“Not only will this be a great option for our citizens, but this will be a destination that brings people to our town and opens up so many more opportunities for other businesses to benefit,” Peters said. “There are a lot of people who came together to make this happen, including Roanoke County, and without their support this wouldn’t be happening.”

Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce President Justin Davison said, “I am very excited for Macado’s to be opening in Vinton. I think it will bring great folks to Vinton to experience great food but also explore all the other great things going on in Vinton. At the Chamber we look forward to working with the Macado’s organization to make them feel welcome in town.”

The new Vinton location is Macado’s 22nd, bringing approximately 60 new jobs to the Vinton area. The chain operates throughout Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.
