Roanoke Area Youth Softball Association(RAYSA) tournaments are being held at Darrell Shell Park in south Roanoke County this week and Vinton and Mount Pleasant teams are participating.
In the five team 10 and under division Vinton opened with a loss to Salem on Monday, then dropped a game to Glenvar on Tuesday to be eliminated from the double elimination tournament.
As of Wednesday Salem and North Roanoke were still alive in the winners’ bracket while Glenvar and South County were hanging on in the losers’ bracket.
The championship is scheduled for Friday night.
Mount Pleasant has a team in the four team 13 and under tournament, which opened Tuesday.
South County Red defeated the “Crush” and sent Mount Pleasant to the losers’ bracket, where they were scheduled to play South County White on Wednesday night.
Craig County and South County Red were playing in the winners’ bracket that night and the championship is also scheduled for Friday.
