Letter in Support of Tammy Shepherd for Roanoke County Board of Supervisors
As a long-time resident of Roanoke County and someone deeply invested in our community’s
future, I’m proud to support Tammy Shepherd in her continued service on the Board of
Supervisors.
Tammy isn’t just a public servant — she’s one of us. She grew up here, built her business here
and continues to live and work among the very people she represents.
As the owner of a local realty company, she understands the challenges and opportunities facing
our neighborhoods, families, and small businesses.
Her commitment to Roanoke County goes far beyond her professional role. For years, she
volunteered her time and energy to support our schools and youth programs, including serving as
president of the high school football booster club. Her leadership helped strengthen community
spirit and support for student-athletes — a reflection of her belief that investing in young people
is investing in our future.
Since joining the Board of Supervisors over a year ago, Tammy has brought that same energy,
integrity, and work ethic to local government. She gives 110% to every issue, listens to
constituents with care and makes decisions rooted in honesty and fairness. In Tammy’s short
time, we have already seen increased school operating funding, a reduction in real estate taxes,
support for school renovations at WE Cundiff, Glen Cove, and CTE in Hollins, as well as the
new Fire Station 12 on 460/Bonsack that improves response times in our community.
Whether she’s attending community meetings, answering calls personally, or rolling up her
sleeves to solve problems, Tammy leads with heart and purpose. She’s not just committed to the
Vinton District — she loves it.
Even in an uncontested race, it’s important to recognize and celebrate the kind of leadership that
makes a difference. I encourage my neighbors to join me in thanking Tammy for her service and
supporting her continued work on behalf of our community.
Sincerely,
Carla Mann Honaker, Roanoke County
Letter of Support for Tammy Shepherd
Tammy Shepherd, a life-long resident of Vinton, is running to represent Vinton on the Roanoke
County Board of Supervisors. She is an obvious choice for this position. She knows the people of
Vinton and has been committed to the Vinton community. She has the experience needed for the
position and a proven track record.
Tammy grew up in Vinton, graduated from William Byrd High School, opened her real estate
company (Shepherd Realty Group) in Vinton, volunteered in Vinton, and has a deep
understanding of the challenges and opportunities available to the people and community of
Vinton. Tammy was unanimously appointed to the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors in
January 2024 to fill a vacancy. In November 2024, Tammy won a special election to continue
serving on the board for the remainder of the term.
During that time, Tammy has given attention to making safety and recreational improvements,
has emphasized the importance of economic development, has supported more housing options,
and stressed the importance of responsible budgeting within the county.
Due to Tammy’s business experience within the real estate industry, she is able to give valuable
input into land use and development, and into tax rates and budgeting. Tammy even hosted a
town meeting to update Vinton’s citizens and to gain their input on projects.
Vinton is very fortunate to have an individual so dedicated to the people and community of
Vinton, and I am proud to support her for the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors.
