William Byrd goalie Evamarie Pascoe makes a point blank save in last Friday’s game with Jefferson Forest. Helping on the play are Natalie Ferguson(#99) and Emmy Harris(#1).

Two lacrosse games were the final high school varsity games on the grass field at Patterson Stadium last Friday with the turf scheduled to be torn up for the new artificial surface. Unfortunately the Terriers lost both games, as the girls fell to Jefferson Forest, 18-8, and the boys were defeated by Hidden Valley, 21-0.

“Our freshmen team is just too young  play against a very well coached and mature team,” said girls coach Dan Eberhardt. “Most of the JF team is juniors and seniors.”

Leading the Byrd offense was Natalie Ferguson with three goals. Goalie Evamarie Pascoe had 12 saves for the night. We play our last regular season game tonight at vinyard against rockbridge high school. Conference play will begin at the end of next week.

The girls had their final regular season game Wednesday of this week at Vinyard, and the boys also played the Wildcats at home Wednesday. The boys will play LCA on Friday and at Hidden Valley on Saturday, with conference play scheduled to begin next week.
