The Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their first Mingle at the Market concert of the
2025 summer season at the Vinton Farmers’ Market on June 14. The weather forecast had called
for thunderstorms—that didn’t happen. The Chamber hoped for a large crowd—they showed up.
“Our first Mingle in the Market was a huge success,” said Vinton Area Chamber of Commerce
President Page Lovern. “A big thanks to our volunteers First Citizens Bank, Defy Gravity, and
the WBHS football team. Gasoline Alley and Filthy Souls rocked the stage all night. Food on the
Go and Get Glazed provided exceptional food and treats. The kids had fun in the Kids Zone
provided by Vinton Moose Lodge #1121. We are looking forward to another perfect evening on
June 28.”
The William Byrd High School Terriers football team and their coaches set up the venue,
continuing a tradition from past years. Volunteers from Defy Gravity assisted with admissions
and the 50/50 raffle.
The band Filthy Souls opened the show. Filthy Souls includes some big names familiar to
Vinton–Mark Stegall, Adam Rutledge, Jim Lewis, Jason Weeks and Brett Fulghum.

Gasoline Alley closed out the evening. They are an old-school rock band, formed initially in 1999, but two of the leads began playing together in 1976. The band specializes in playing note-for-note covers
of classic tunes by AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Ted Nugent, Ozzy Osbourne and many others.

According to Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Angie Chewning, the attendance at the
Mingles concerts has been nothing short of amazing in the past two summers. Any concerns they
had about their success continuing was alleviated quickly on June 14.

and Get Glazed Donuts, Mrz. Sweet Cakez was there for dessert, along with the traditional Blue
Ridge Beverage garden.
