The William Byrd girls soccer team will go into spring break looking for their first win after losing a home game to Cave Spring Tuesday, 3-1.

Byrd is 0-4 thus far with two losses each to Cave Spring and Hidden Valley. On Tuesday the girls got off to a quick start as Kelly O’Connor scored to give Byrd a 1-0 lead off an assist from Saje Carter. However, the Knights rallied to score three unanswered goals to take the win.

Last Friday the girls played their home opener against Hidden Valley at Patterson Stadium and lost 3-1. After a scoreless first half the Terriers again  had a lead when Jenna Rozenboom scored on a breakaway to give Byrd a 1-0 advantage. Again, however, the Terriers failed to hold the lead.

“Unfortunately we seemed to run out of steam while HV seemed to gain momentum,” said Byrd coach Molly Deacon.

The Terriers are now off for spring break, returning April 10 to play Lord Botetourt in Daleville.
