The William Byrd tennis teams are wrapping up their regular seasons in the next week with Conference 24 play set to begin a week from today.

Both teams played Lord Botetourt Wednesday, but results were too late for publication, and on Friday the boys will host Rockbridge while the girls play at Rockbridge. The girls also have a home match with William Fleming on Thursday.

Last Friday both teams played Northside. The girls won, 7-2, at Walrond Park while the boys dropped a 5-2 decision at home, with the last two matches called due to inclement weather.

Singles winners for the girls were Kaidyn Settles, Hannah Shelton, Far Jantarat and Julia Kelly. Doubles winners were Settles and Shelton at one, Allison Faulkner and Kinley Moore at two and Kelly and Maddie Craig at three.

“It was a beautiful day for the match,” said coach Kayla Mitchell. “Every girl put forth their best effort and it came out a win. Now we just hope for great weather the rest of the week so we can finish our season out strong.”
