The William Byrd High School Marching Terriers ended their highly successful marching band
season with the traditional Grid Iron Review on November 13 at Patterson Stadium. The
ceremony included awards, recognitions, and the presentation of the poignant “crying towels” to
graduating seniors. There was a table full of trophies on display that the band has earned at
competitions during the 2025 season.
Student band leaders for this year included Braeden Booth (Corps Commander), Zane Telsch
(Drum Major), Dixie Venable (Woodwind Captain), Joshua Allen (Brass Captain), Keith Schult
(Percussion Captain), Elizabeth Martinez (Front Ensemble Captain), and Chloe Gill (Color
Guard Captain).
The following students earned their Band Letter and/or Chevrons: Dakoda Downs, Grant
Muddiman, Katelyn Bennett, Ceiliann Baldwin, Sabrina Wray, Noah Williams, Sammara
Weaver, Paylin Waldron, Joshua Williams, Dixie Venable, Carsyn Yates, Zane Telsch, Keith
Schult, Kailen Rice, Ryan McIntyre, Kennedy Moseley, Naleigh Lewis, Samuel Leftwich,
Brihanna Harris, Landon Hollins, Samuel Geist, Julissa Garcia, Blair Godlesky, Chloe Gill,
Drayven English, Emily Clinebell, Norah Buck, Draven Flinchum, and Erica Barton.
Cashton Nute was named male Rookie of the Year; Katie Linkenhoker was named female
Rookie of the Year.
First Year Color Guard awards went to:

Schult, Carlee Partleton, Braeden Booth, Catherine Underwood, Elizabeth Martinez, and Dixie
Venable.

Several WBHS band members were selected to perform in this year’s All-County Band—a
prestigious accomplishment. They include Samuel Geist, Nathaniel Hale, Zane Telsch, Draven
English, Draven Flinchum, Levi Whitcomb, Ryan McIntyre, Keith Schult, Lucy Whitenack,
Dagan Miller, Ceiliann Baldwin, Sydney Nichols, Noah Williams, Dixie Venable, Brihanna
Harris, Erica Barton, Sophie Hoagland, Elizabeth Martinez, and Josh Allen.
