Vinton, VA – On October 8, 2016 at 1852 hrs., the Vinton Police Department responded to an armed robbery call at the Cricket Wireless Phone Store located 915 Hardy Road in Vinton. Preliminary investigative findings indicate a black male in his early 20’s entered the stored, produced a handgun, and then demanded money. The suspect is described as wearing a black hoodie with a white Nike logo on the front, black sweat pants, and white tennis shoes. The suspect also had a dark bandana or cloth covering his neck and lower face. The suspect was last seen fleeing the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Members of the Vinton Police Department Criminal Investigations Division also responded along with a tracking K-9 from the Roanoke County Police Department. The matter remains under investigation. No further details will be released at this time.
