William Byrd High School’s Christian Parker performed in the Virginia Music Educators
Association (VMEA) Senior Honor Choir in Norfolk on November 23—the only student from
any Roanoke Valley school to participate in the choir this year. The Senior Honor Choir
showcases Virginia high school students with exceptional voices.
This choir is widely considered as the most elite event available for a choral student during their
high school career. The 150-person choir began rehearsing on Friday and performed in concert
Saturday. They were led by Dr Jeffery Redding from UCF.
All 12th grade students enrolled in a VMEA member’s school choral ensemble are eligible to
audition.
