The Roanoke Valley Wrestling Hall of Fame held its annual induction
ceremony and awards banquet on Monday night, April 22, at the Holiday Inn-Tanglewood
and it was a big night for the Big Orange, as three former William Byrd wrestlers
were among the Class of 2024. Inducted into the Hall of Fame were Terrier greats
David Labiosa, Greg Henderson and Bruce Palmer ( All three were presented by former Byrd coaches or
wrestlers) along with former Glenvar coach and Grundy standout Jason Cline.
Staunton River’s Noah Nininger was named Wrestler of the year, Salem’s Lawrence Van Liew was
named Coach of the Year, Chip Nininger was named Assistant of the Year and six scholarships were presented to deserving high school wrestlers.
