The William Byrd tennis teams got their post-break schedule off to a good
start with Blue Ridge District wins over William Fleming. The girls shut out the
Colonels in Roanoke, 9-0, and the boys took an 8-1 win in Vinton.
Singles winners for the girls were Ashley Bagasse(8-5), Makenna
Jacobsen(8-0), Ashlyn Thomas(8-2), Callie Lusk(8-2), Miley Moses(8-1) and
Brooke Justus(8-0). In double Begasse and Jacobsen won 8-0, Thomas and Lusk
won 8-1 and Moses and Justus won 8-0.
“Very proud of this team’s energy,” said coach Randy Bush. “They
competed well.”
Singles winners for the boys were Camden Thepsimuong, Maddox Wolfe,
Dillon Colgan, Luke Hemming and Keith Schult. Doubles wins consisted of Ryan
Carista and Wolfe, Thepsimuong and Ryan McIntyre and Hemming and Cody
Gardner.
The Terriers played Fleming on April 9th , with the girls at home and the boys at Fleming.
