The William Byrd competition cheerleading team finished second at the Region 3D cheer-off at Cave Spring High School on April 10. Host Cave Spring won the competition and advanced to the state round. In a normal year Byrd would have also advanced, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, only the top team qualified for state this year, instead of the top two, as in previous seasons.
