Three area students were among the more than 370 cadets who received Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from Virginia Military Institute during the commencement ceremony May 16.
Former U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson addressed the Class of 2018 in VMI’s Cameron Hall.
Graduating cadets included:
- Carlee M. Anderson of Vinton received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Literary Concentration and Philosophy Concentration and Rhetoric and Writing Concentration. Graduating honors include Distinguished Graduate. Anderson’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Brian Anderson.
- Nicholas A. Holdren of Vinton received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Business. Holdren’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Stewart E. Holdren.
- Clayton M. Whitaker of Vinton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Graduating honors include the Chesty Puller Award, Marine Corps Commission and With Distinction. Whitaker’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Anthony R. Whitaker.
