The William Byrd lacrosse teams traveled to Lynchburg for a doubleheader against teams from the well-established E.C. Glass program. The girls dropped a 12-5 game and boys were shut out, 20-0.
The girls trailed 8-0 before they scored and were down 10-1 at the half. The second half was a different story, as Byrd outscored the Hilltoppers 4-2 but it was too little, too late.
“We just didn’t have enough time to compensate for the goals we gave up in the first half,” said coach Dan Eberhardt.
The lax teams played host to Blacksburg at Patterson Stadium in Vinton last Saturday and girls picked up a 9-7 win over the Bruins. Byrd played without standout goalie Evamarie Pascoe as Rachel Warren donned the equipment and finished with eight saves. Chloe Pascoe had three goals with Emmy Harris and Elizabeth Hancock adding two each.
The boys dropped a 12-3 game to the Bruins. Joe Shail had two goals, Austin Nardon had a goal and an assist and Tanner Pruzan had one assist.
The Terriers are at Jefferson Forest on Friday, with the girls at 6:15 pm and the boys at 8 pm.
