Jacob Tingler, who is a sixth grader at William Byrd Middle School, went hunting on Youth Deer Hunting Weekend and brought home this 8-point buck. His dad, Matt Tingler, who is an IT Specialist for Roanoke County Schools and baseball coach at WBMS, says that hunting is a family tradition for at least the 5th generation.
“Jacob killed the deer in Craig County on his Great, Great Uncle’s land where I killed my first 8-pointer as a young kid. Last year, Jacob killed his first two deer and was super excited to get a bigger buck! He also recently killed his first gobbler in the 2024 Spring Turkey season in April.”
“Jacob has been target-practicing for the last four years from time to time and decided last year that he really wanted to go hunting. He spent HOURS in the woods, being patient, waking up EARLY, and leaving at dark. His dedication and patience as an 11 and 12-year-old has been excellent.”
“He would like to give a special thank you to his Great, Great Uncle Gordon for investing time in him and for several gifts that include his first hunting rifle, four-wheeler, and hunting outfit. His uncle has been a tremendous supporter of three generations of young hunters in the Tingler family! Jacob is really looking forward to November for Rifle Season.”
