Find out about a project to provide pedestrian
improvements and designated bicycle lanes on the
section of Walnut Avenue in Vinton from just west of
4th Street to just west of 1st Street. This project will
connect with other completed projects to improve
pedestrian and bicycle access between the City of
Roanoke and the Vinton Farmers’ Market.
The project will provide sidewalks, a crosswalk at 2nd
Street, handicapped ramps and pedestrian lighting.
Approximately 1,600 linear feet of new sidewalk will
be constructed on the north side of Walnut Avenue
and about 700 linear feet of new sidewalk will be
added the south side.
In addition, pavement markings will be added to
designate about 1,600 feet of bike lanes along Walnut
Avenue. Curb and gutter and drainage improvements
are also included in the project.
